How This Date Calculator Works
This Date Calculator is very simple to use. This Date Calculator is very easy to use.
This tool can help you calculate in three ways, covering nearly all the questions you may have related to dates:
1. Add or Subtract from a Date
Add or Subtract from a Date — Select a starting date, a unit of time (days, weeks, months, or years), and then choose add or subtract, then get the new date right away. For instance, if someone is adding 45 days to June 1, he would end up with July 16. Make sure you subtract 6 weeks from a date and they will be 42 days back, adding in any month boundary.
2. Days Between Two Dates
- Days Between Two Dates — Input a start and end date, return the number of days between them, which includes the number of weeks and the remaining days, as well as the day of the week for each of the dates. This is the type of calculation people generally look for when they are asking, “how many days between two dates.
3. Days From Today / Days Until a Date
A short-cut version of the difference calculation, based on the current date (3. Days From Today / Days Until a Date). When you want to know “what date is 90 days from today” or “how many days until a specific date,” without having to enter today’s date in manually each time.
The Rules Behind Accurate Date Math
Counting dates is a simple problem, but there are a number of gotchas when dealing with it manually or in basic spreadsheets:
Leap years: Any year divisible by 4 is a leap year with a few exceptions: Century years (those divisible by 100) are leap years when they are divisible by 400. That’s why 2000 was a leap year but 1900 wasn’t. This calculator uses that rule and always has the proper number of days for February.
Adding a month to January 31 doesn’t make March 3, it results in February 28 (or February 29 in a leap year), since there is no 31st day in February. This is a common mistake in most hand-calculations and in basic scripts.
Day of week tracking: All results will indicate which day of the week the calculated date is on, allowing you to immediately see if a deadline falls on Saturday or Tuesday.
Calendar Days – Weekend included, Business Days – Weekend Excluded. When calculating, it is important to know which one to use beforehand, otherwise timelines will be miscounted.

Frequently Asked Questions
What’s the date Y days after today?
Set the start date to today’s date, type in the number of days, pick “Days” as the unit, click “Add” and compute. The tool will return the same date in the future, as well as the corresponding weekday in that time.
Is this calculator correct for leap years?
Yes. The calculator verifies if any year in the calculation range is a leap year using the common rule (divisible by 4) and changes the number of days in February accordingly (except for century leap years according to the common rule).
How many days in between are calendar days and business days?
The number of days counted is called calendar days and includes weekends. Business days is the number of days excluding Saturdays and Sundays providing a more accurate representation of working days for scheduling purposes.
Are there any month-end corner cases for subtrahable months from date?
Yes. The calculator automatically corrects months with less days. For example, if you subtract one month from the month of March 31, you will get February 28 (or 29 for leap years) since there is no 31st February.
What is the probability of the day-of-week prediction being correct?
Correct — the calculator does not use an approximation of the Gregorian calendar structure, but the true one, and the weekday returned by the calculator is always correct, no matter how far back in time or into the future the date is.
What is the difference in years between 2 numbers?
Yes. Simply type in a start and end date, no matter how many years apart they are, and the calculator will display the total number of days, as well as a breakdown of days by years, months and/or weeks.
